Green Recycling IS 27SMEs2009

AN INTEGRATED SYSTEM FOR THE OPTIMAL MANAGEMENT & CONTROL OF THE WASTE RECYCLING PROCESS Green Recycling Information System

The Green Recycling Information System is a comprehensive software and hardware package for real time automation, Monitoring and Management system in the fields of Waste Recycling Methods and Environmental Protection, It is an innovative user friendly Management Information System (MIS) for the supervision and process planning of the Recycling Industry and especially for the Separation Waste Treatment.

The program funded from ESPA with Code 27 SMEs 2009. The Project manager of the program is WATT SA and partners are MOTION Hellas Ltd and UNIPLAN SA As contractor participate the NTUA (MD&CS Mechanical Design and Control Sector).

The company WATT S.A. Waste Applied Technologies and Transport (former ΕΠΑΝΑ SA) is a company active in every step of the procedure of the treatment of non-toxic, non-hazardous solid waste.

In Greece the main activity of the company is the processing of:

  • the municipal packaging waste deriving from the blue bin of the Greek Green Dot Company (EEAA SA)

  • the commercial and industrial non-hazardous waste

The procedure entails the sorting of collected waste, such as paper, plastic, metal and glass packaging and containers, according to each category, by using special equipment for material recovering. The next stage is the forwarding of the materials for reuse and recycling to the final recipients, according to the guidelines of the EU statutes.

The Green Recycling Information System enables the implementation of ‘’Open Systems’’. This allows the multivendor computing environment – usually found in the plant – to work together as a single, unique integrated system. This means more than simply establishing network links; it means that applications, such as manufacturing and business planning, exchange complex information in ‘’real time’’ to perform tasks and operations that are tightly integrated with factory control and management, data collection and statistical process control.

The system aims to:

  • the automation design and optimization measurements algorithms of mechanical shorting process coupled with installation of special sensors and new improved shorting techniques.

  • the real time monitoring of the Weighbridge process

  • the real time monitoring of the basic and critical parameters from the Mechanical Waste Treatment in the Daily Quality Document Process Control

  • implement irreproachable processes for the on line and real time monitoring of the Process, the required information and measurements

  • design and develop an intelligent maintenance monitoring and diagnostic system.

  • support the Quality Control and Quality Assurance of the all Process

  • provide a MIS software package for management services, Quality Control and Data Analysis

  • create Documentation and Reporting of the required parameters

The System Modules

Within this framework there is provision for the installation of a number of Software systems, Hardware systems and Documentation procedures that shall cover the:

  • Overall Management of the Weighbridge System (Diagram for weights per waste type, Diagram for weights per Day, Report of Wastes per Day)

  • Overall Management of the Mechanical Sorting Process (Status, Shredder Working Hours, etc)

  • Management of the Daily Quality Document Control (Check points, Productivity, Weights, Alarms, Faults etc)

  • Monitoring of orders and production planning

  • Modeling and optimization of preventive machinery maintenance to upkeep the quality criteria of the material produced

The system has elements for:

  • maintenance,

  • preventive maintenance

  • Rolling element bearings,

  • Fatigue analysis,

  • basic rating life

  • condition monitoring,

  • vibration analysis

  • stochastic loads

  • residual life estimation etc

and scientific results for:

  • RESIDUAL USEFUL LIFE ESTIMATION FOR ROLLING ELEMENT BEARINGS BASED ON VIBRATION SIGNAL ANALYSIS

  • Vibration Measurements for Wind Turbines Condition Monitoring

  • Stochastic Loads on Wind Turbines and their Impact on the Main Shaft Bearings
